MEASURING SYSTEM OF ENVIRONMENT RADIOACTIVITY (RADIOLOGICAL SURVEILLANCE)
General Description
The measurement of radioactive emissions at very low levels requires specific techniques for the preparation of samples, very sophisticated detectors with high stability electronic chains and reliable calculation techniques.
As a result of the use of nuclear energy, radiological surveillance became necessary. CEDEX started the programs in 1976, later, the entry of spain to the European Community and the subsequent participation in the EURATOM activities, made the setting up of surveillance networks obligatory.
At present, samples from seventy seven points of the national hydrographical network and coastal waters is being developed. Samples of drinking waters are also analyzed.
