Description
The development of Information and Communication Technologies has promoted the technology transfer through Internet. The Centro de Estudios de Técnicas Aplicadas of CEDEX has developed and manages at present the Spanish Information System on Water HISPAGUA and participates actively in the international networks of Information Systems on water both in the Euro Mediterranean area (SEMIDE/EMWIS) and Ibero-America (SIAGUA)
The information is distributed through National Focal Points (PFN), these being the owners of the information and the people in charge of the content and the update.
HISPAGUA constitutes the Spanish Focal Point for SEMIDE and SIAGUA. It gathers the information corresponding to Spain structured in five great groups: Institutions, Documentation, Training, Research and Data on Water.
The countries having designated a National Focal Point in SEMIDE/EMWIS are: Austria, Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Spain from the European Union, and 10 countries from the Mediterranean partnership (Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey). SIAGUA is integrated by the countries of Ibero-America as well as Spain and Portugal.
