BLUE SERIES

The collection of technical books of the Centres and Laboratories that form part of CEDEX are grouped under the denomination Blue Series, with the only exception of the Centro de Estudios Históricos de Obras Públicas y Urbanismo, that offers its own CEHOPU Publications collection. Since its creation in 1981, the Blue Series has been active for a period of almost twenty years, with a total of more than 150 publications.

The Blue Series collection is formed by several series that, avoiding a difficult classification by matter, groups books whose layout present similar characteristics: Research Booklets, Monographs, Manuals and Recommendations, Documents, Technical Standards, Congresses, etc. All these series present a similar aspect, with a 17 x 24 cm size and a standard cover in a dark blue colour with a band of a colour characteristic to each of them:

• Research Booklets includes the results of the researches, both theoretical and experimental, whose conclusions many not be yet prepared for their incorporation to the daily practice, but whose results must and should be disseminated. • Monographs is destined to collect the state of the art of various subjects within the field of civil enginnering. Its cover has a dark blue colour with a light blue band. Click here to consult the catalogue.
• Manuals and Recommendations intends to be always present in the working table of the specialists of the sector, collecting material for consultation directed to the daily practice. Its cover has a dark blue colour with a grey band. Click here to consult the catalogue.
• Documents is formed by a varied typology of documents, either of a general character, scientific policy or bibliographic or terminological instruments. Its cover has a dark blue colour with a yellow band. Click here to consult the catalogue.
• Technical Standards, the old MELC and NLT standards on methods for the testing of roads, soils and construction materials have been reissued, extended and reviewed; most of these standards has been updated and incorporates all the redraft standards brought up to date by the different laboratories of the Centro de Estudios del Transporte, Laboratorio Central de Estructuras y Materiales and Laboratorio de Geotecnia. Although the Series keeps the characteristics of identity of the collection (Blue Series), a dark blue cover with a light green band, its presentation differs notably from other series, both for their size, normalized at DIN A4, and their nature, since they come in ring binders that make possible to collect the standards as loose sheets, favouring the substitution of some of the standards by their new versions, since the automatic revision of the testing processes is habitual, as well as the updating of the corresponding standard in some occasions. Two new series have been recently incorporated to the collection. The series Analysis of Structures includes specific studies made in this field and it can be identified by its dark blue cover with a purple band. The series Congresses gathers all the minutes and reports of congresses, symposiums, etc, organized to some extent by CEDEX, and it presents a dark blue cover with an intense green band.
